Can I change plans later? +
Yes! You can upgrade or downgrade any individual mailbox at any time via your Site Essence dashboard. There are no penalties and changes take effect immediately.
Do you offer local support? +
Absolutely. We are based in South Africa. You get local expertise and support in your time zone — no offshore call centres, no language barriers, and no waiting for overseas business hours.
Is my data backed up? +
Every account includes automated daily backups. Lite and Business plans keep 30 days of data; Elite plans keep a full 365 days of backup history.
Can I mix different plans on the same domain? +
Yes — this is one of our most popular features. You can have some staff on Lite Mail (R39) and others on Business Sync or Elite OEX, all sharing the same @yourdomain.co.za email addresses. Each mailbox is billed separately at its own plan rate.
Do I need to own a domain name first? +
Yes, you need a domain name (e.g. yourbusiness.co.za) to host email on. If you don’t have one yet, we can register it for you during signup. A .co.za domain costs R99/year.
What is ActiveSync and do I need it? +
ActiveSync is a protocol that keeps your email, calendar, and contacts in real-time sync across your phone and tablet. If your staff check email on their phones or need mobile calendar access, you’ll want Business Sync or Elite OEX. Lite Mail is webmail and desktop client access only.
Does Elite OEX work with Outlook without any extra configuration? +
Yes. Our Elite OEX plan connects natively to Outlook for Windows — no plugins, no complicated setup. Your mail, calendar, and contacts sync automatically, just like a traditional Exchange server setup.
Will you help us migrate from our current provider? +
Yes — we offer a free migration service. Our team handles all the technical work to move your existing emails across with zero downtime. Just let us know where you’re migrating from after signing up.
Is there a contract? +
No contracts. Everything is billed month-to-month and you can cancel at any time. You can also add or remove individual mailboxes whenever your team grows or changes.
How do I pay monthly? +
All payments are managed through your Site Essence client portal. You can pay via debit order, credit/debit card, or EFT — whichever suits your business best.
Is my email private? Will you scan it for ads? +
Never. Unlike free providers such as Gmail, we do not scan your emails for advertising or share your data with third parties. Your business email is completely private.
How many mailboxes can I have? +
There is no limit. You can create as many mailboxes as your business needs and mix any combination of Lite, Business Sync, and Elite OEX plans — all on the same domain.
What is pro-rata billing? +
If you sign up or add mailboxes mid-month, you’ll only be billed for the days remaining in that month. From the 1st of the following month, your regular monthly billing begins — so you’re never charged for days you didn’t use.
Can I use the email on my phone with the standard iOS or Android mail app? +
Yes. Business Sync and Elite OEX plans support ActiveSync, which works with the native Mail app on iPhone and Android. Lite Mail can also be
